Old Fashioned Pound Cake

10-12 rose geranium leaves
3 stick butter, room temp
3 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 eggs
3 cups flour, sifted
6 oz lemon-lime soda - do not use diet
1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Preheat oven to 325°


Grease and flour a tube cake pan or Bundt pan. Remove stems from geranium leaves and place face down on bottom of pan - fill in completely.

Cream butter, vanilla and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add flour alternately with soda, mixing well. Add lemon juice.

Pour into cake pan, smoothing top


Bake 1 - 1 1/4 hours. If necessary place a piece of foil over cake towards end of baking to prevent over browning. If toothpick comes out clean, it's finis.

Let cool for 10 minutes.
